Founded in 1890, Karger Publishers of Switzerland is an independent family-owned publishing house specialising in clinical and research areas of medicine and science. Karger is dedicated to the outstanding quality of its publications and publishes more than 90 journals including Open Access titles and approximately 150 book titles per year. Karger's publications are supported by distinguished editors and referees and are carefully peer-reviewed.

The company intends to hold to this philosophy, keeping pace with new technologies and developing practical solutions as an expression of its strong commitment to meeting the information needs of the scientific community.
